IN THE COMMUNITY

Ivory has done a lot of community work since she was in high school. She really enjoys giving back to kids because she remembers others helping her when she was young. She feels that having someone to look up as a role model is important.
In High School when she attended the McDonald’s All-American game, she was able to go the Ronald McDonald House in Cleveland and talk with some kids. Seeing the smiles on their faces brighten up her day and made her want to do more.

Ivory partners up with a charity called Cheer for Children. Cheer for Children was founded in 1985 as an all-volunteer organization to help children in the South Bay. Every year at Christmas, Ivory hosts a party for kids and donates money for them to get school supplies, Christmas gifts and clothes. Last year, Nike partnered up with her and donated shoes and bags for the kids.

During her first year with the Atlanta Dream, she had a basketball camp at her old high school for some local kids from the community. She was also a part of a Habitat-for-Humanity build in Atlanta that helped provide a house to a family in need.
She’s also been a part of the Pitney Bowes Fast Break for reading. She’s been able to visit and read to kids and talk about the importance of education.
Ivory has been a part of the Power of Girls club which has given her the opportunity to interact with young girls to help them with sports and other issues they deal with in life. They would take the girls to different events and let them enjoy themselves for doing a great job in school.

Ivory has also given back to the community through WNBA Cares. Through WNBA Cares, she’s been able to go to schools, read to kids and do basketball camps. The best WNBA Cares event that she remembers was when they dedicated a basketball court to a local YMCA in Atlanta so the children could have a safe place to play and go after school!
